Board Member Bios

 
Deborah Piltch
Deborah Piltch received her BA in Women's Studies, Cum Laude and Highest Honors, from William, Smith College, a Masters in Labor Relations from UMASS Amherst, and a JD from University of PA, where she was the recipient of the Fordham Human Rights Award.  Debbie is a member of the MA Bar and is a nationally recognized expert in Fair Housing and Affordable Housing. She is the principal of Piltch Associates, Inc., a consulting firm that works with State, Local and National organizations, government agencies and private housing management companies on housing related issues.  She is also currently employed as the Director of Compliance for Maloney Properties, Inc., a private housing management company with offices in MA, RI, VT, and NH.  Debbie and her husband Dan Leob live in Sharon, with their three children. 

Monte Jaffe
Monte received his BA in Government from Wesleyan University and was awarded an MBA with distinction from Cornell University.  Monte is a Certified Public Accountant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He was formerly employed as a Chief Financial Officer of Trans National Group and is currently self-employed.  Monte, his wife Lisa, and their children Dana and Evan live in Sharon, MA.

Jamie Eslinger
Jamie is currently the Director of Marketing at Bertucci's Corporation.  She has over 10 years experience in marketing and has previously been with Baskin-Robbins/Dunkin Brands and was a co-inventor of the gift product Living Life Game.  Jamie received her BA in Women's Studies with a concentration in women's sports from Smith College and an AA from Cottey College. Jamie was named Cottey College Young Alumnae of the Year in 2001 for her work with i-Glow, an internet company she co-founded to promote girls sports.  At the age of 17 Jamie was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, a month later her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  This experience spurred her passion for health and wellness.  In addition to serving as a Board Member of the Massachusetts Affiliate for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Jamie sits on the Whittier Health Center Board. 


Karen Burns White
Karen Burns White is the Deputy Associate Director for the Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  As Deputy Associate Director, Ms. Burns White coordinates the planning and implementation of Center's efforts to increase minority participation at all levels of the Cancer Center activities.  A major focus for the center is on the reduction of health disparities with an emphasis on cancer-related disparities.  Co-leading this efforts, Ms.Burns White has implemented an integrated structure that involves a multi-prong approach including - cancer disparities research, community engagement, cultural competency, recruitment and retention of minority faculty and training.  She has been a strong advocate and supporter in providing cancer-related knowledge to the community.  This is most visible in her efforts with community-based partners including faith-based organizations.  Ms. Burns White has also been involved in creating a partnership with the University of Massachusetts Boston.  This collaboration has led to securing NIH funding, a cooperative planning award through the national Cancer Institute.  This mechanism promotes collaborations in the areas of cancer research, education, career development and outreach to minority communities across cancer centers and minority-serving institutions.  In the past, Ms. Burns White has directed the Care Coordination department for the Hematology/Oncology program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital.  She has also held positions with the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston and with the Visiting Nurse and Community Health, Inc, of Arlington, MA.  Ms. Burns White holds a B.S. in Health Information Management and a M.S. in Health Care Administration.  She has been an Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University in Health Information Management.  Additionally, she serves on numerous boards and committees including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Massachusetts Affiliate and University of Massachusetts Boston-College of Nursing and Exercise Science.  Ms. Burns White lives in Randolph with her husband Cecil and her twin sons, Kyle and Cedric White. Lynn Segal
Lynn received a BA in economics magna cum laude and MBA with distinction from Harvard University.  Lynn consults to and invests in high tech companies as a partner of Feldman Advisors.  She has been an SVP at Digitas, the leading interactive marketing firm and she founded a software firm, Strictly Personal, Inc. that provides systems to large not-for-profits enabling them to run one-to-one peer-to-peer fundraising and friend-raising letter and email campaigns.  Lynn lives in Chestnut Hill with her husband Mickey and their three children.

Dr. Jane Mendez
Dr. Jane E. Mendez received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Harvard University in 1988.  She obtained her medical degree (1992) at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, NY.  Subsequently, Dr. Mendez completed her General Surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, NY (1998).  After working for five years as a general surgery attending at  Metropolitan City Hospital in New York, she pursued a Breast Surgery Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY.  Dr. Mendez is board certified in General Surgery and for the past four years has worked as a Breast Surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine.  Recently, she was appointed as a member of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Massachusetts Affiliate's governing board.

At the national level, Dr. Mendez is an active member of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG) and the American Society of Breast Surgeons where she currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Education Committee and a member of the Patient safety and quality committee, respectively.  Her interests include breast cancer in underserved patients and breast cancer chemoprevention.  Dr. Mendez has been featured in the Boston Globe and Latina Magazine for her work as a Breast Surgeon.


Christine Carlo
Christine is the Director of Marketing at RE/MAX of New England.  She has over 16 years experience in sales and marketing in the consumer packaged goods industry.  She spent 10 years at Nestle USA and Nestle Waters North America and was also employed by the Gillette Company and Miller Brewing Company.  Christine received her BA in Communication from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her MS in Management from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.  Christine is also a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga teacher.  She teaches at Prana Power Yoga in Newton, Cambridge and Winchester.  She currently lives in Belmont.  

Ann Donner
Ann Donner has over 25 years experience managing strategic initiatives in the public, nonprofit and private sectors, and has held leadership positions with government, civic, health care and business organizations.  Ann is the former executive director of Move Massachusetts 2000 and the Trust for City Hall Plaza and over the course of her career she has helped spearhead investment in critical urban infrastructure projects and served as a member of the Boston Employment Commission from 1991 to 1996.  Since 2005, she has been a consultant specializing in increasing the effectiveness and capacity of nonprofit organizations in the areas of workforce development, health care, education, policy, and transportation.    Ann is also active in expanding the availability of quality end-of-life care in Massachusetts and has served on the board of the Massachusetts Compassionate Care Coalition and is a founding board member of the Boston House for Care, a hospice house project.  Ann and her husband reside Newton with their two sons.

Linda Ruberto
Linda taught high school science for 33 years before retiring in 2006.  Presently, she sits on the Massachuseet Teachers’ Retirement System state board as the vice chair.She is a breast cancer survivor who is actively involved with the American Cancer Society . She is the volunteer coordinator for the Look Good…. Feel Better Program, a Reach to Recovery volunteer and trainer, and a New England Stakeholder for ACS. She is also a member of the Berkshire Breast Health Team and involved in educating and creating awareness about breast health. Linda works with local nutritionists to present healthy cooking demos for cancer patients.  She graduated with a BA in biology from Boston University and a Masters of Education from MCLA. Linda, a widow, lives in Pittsfield. She has a son James who resides in Dallas, Texas.
